I've been in the fitness business since 2014. Having my daughter really knocked me into my senses. Being a good role model for her was of the utmost importance - and still is. My personal mission: for every single member who walks into the gym, no matter their circumstances, to feel welcomed and loved, just the way they are. My favorite exercise: It's hard for me to pinpoint one single exercise as my favorite, but if I had to choose, I'd pick "Leg Day". My favorite cheat food: Spaghetti and meatballs. Favorite non-gym activity: I'm a book nerd. If I'm not in the gym training, I'm likely home curled up with a book.

Experience: Div II Soccer, semi-professional Soccer

I started my fitness journey when I was 14 years old and haven't looked back. I've played and competed at high levels of competitive sports, such as Football, Baseball and Soccer; competing in Div II Soccer at Goldey-Beacom College. It was there that I learned and gained the most respect for the importance of strength and conditioning, not only for the athletic advantage, but for character building; to be a well-rounded human being. From college I went on to compete in semi-professional soccer, offering another level of skill development and career preparation. I started working for World Gym Millsboro in 2015 and soon acquired my certification as a Personal Trainer. During my time as a WGM trainer and teammate, I've had the pleasure of working with all demographics from beginner to advanced athlete. In 2017, I had the opportunity to further my education with the World Gym Athletics program, under the instruction of one of the most distinguished trainers in the industry, Doug Katona (COO of World Gym International). In this, I've gained the practical experience to successfully program and lead a strength and conditioning clinic, with instruction ranging from High Intensity Interval Training (HIIT) to Olympic Lifting.

Steve and Pam, owners and long time fitness enthusiasts, opened World Gym Millsboro in July, 2008. We felt Millsboro was an ideal location for a gym as an area underserved in physical fitness services - and the perfect place to bring to life our dream to share 'gym life' with others. We opened our original 5,000sf World Gym Millsboro as a small keyclub concept gym, operating as a high level service "Ma and Pa' facility. As we grew to know and love our members, and they, 'us', we soon discovered they'd need MORE. Two years into operations, we secured an off premises location within which we built out a studio for Group X Classes and continued operations from two spaces for the duration of our 5 year lease term. Moving forward to our current location, our members' demand proved worthy of growth into our 15,000sf facility, merging our Gym and Group X programs and adding many additional programs, childcare and tons more equipment. Our relocation/expansion project, beautiful facility design & branding, quality of staff, programs and operations awarded us "Best Turnaround Gym 2014" at the World Gym International convention in Las Vegas. By 2017, having conquered the years of growing pains in our renewed business start-up, we found it was time for another Dynamic reinvention! Enter the "WORLD GYM ATHLETICS" group training program. We were among the first few World Gyms to on-board with WGA and are pleased to say it has served us well, as a 'link' -that last needed piece to tie our team of staff, our members and our flow of work into a well oiled machine; a whole new dynamic of Leadership and Community; the "World Gym Millsboro" we sought to create. Proudly, we accepted the honor of another award as "Best American World Gym" at the 2017 World Gym Int'l Convention in Vegas and, since then, have reached our 10th Year Anniversary milestone; in July 2018! These experiences, from our beginning -as novice owners with years of tireless overnights spent on the gym storage room futon- through now, our 10th year in business, have made us stronger. We are stronger business people, stronger leaders and stronger husband and wife partners. But we remain forever humble in our friendships and appreciation for this community of members, staff and our World Gym International leaders. Thank you all for your support and for believing in us. -Pam and Steve

My first exposure to the world of fitness came in 2008 when I decided to focus on my health for the first time ever. At almost 30 years old, I realized if I didn't make some changes, I would not live to see my daughter grow up. I started working out at home and doing a lot of walking. Then, on January 2, 2012, I joined World Gym Millsboro as a member. Terrified to walk in, I was met with open arms. My tour was personal and patient. They wanted to know about me, about my experience and goals. Before I knew it, I was a regular; making friends with the other members who attended after work; receiving encouragement by ‘gym family’ whose names I didn’t even know. Then, one day after a workout, I approached Pam and Steve to compliment them for providing such an encouraging, motivating environment (little did I know that they were searching for someone with certain characteristics to assume a new position they’d need in anticipation of growing the gym). A few weeks later, they approached me about joining their team as General Manager. I took a leap of faith, left my secure job at a local bank and filled the newly created position at World Gym Millsboro. Along with Steve, Pam and former staff person, Brian, we ran the old gym together – expanded to the new one and we’ve grown so beautifully together into this new dynamic. I credit both my background work experience and my personal journey into fitness for cultivating my success here as WGM’s General Manager. While my technical job requires the rigid HR and administrative segments of work, there is a nurturing component to the job that sets it apart and taps into the compassionate, real “me”. Encouraging new members in the gym; watching them blossom; witnessing relationships develop; listening to endless testimonials of success -it's infectious and holds the rewards that make my job so much more than a job.

 Experience: Certified Personal Trainer

My love for fitness began in the early 80's when I would watch Joanie Greggains on Morning Stretch while I folded my newspapers for my paper route every morning (there were only a few channels on that early back then!) I soon found myself hurrying to get home so I could do her aerobics class. A few years later, I took a Weight Training class in high school. At that time, there was only one other girl in the class. Fortunately for me, the guys took me under their wing, taught me everything they knew and I was hooked. From then on, I always wanted more. I loved pushing myself and was constantly growing and evolving in my fitness routine, loved the camaraderie in classes, took them all and eventually obtained certification for Personal Training and AFAA Group Fitness/Step Aerobics to fill in for my favorite instructor. As much as I enjoyed teaching, I loved being a participant even more. Classes were my stress relief and Nothing makes me happier than a great HIIT class! One of the highlights of my life was running the Disney Princess 1/2 Marathon in 2012, with my then 14 year old daughter. After many years working in Customer Service, I decided to combine my natural love of helping people and my passion for fitness -and began working at a local gym. Later, I found World Gym Millsboro-a PERFECT FIT! I find it so rewarding helping people plug in, get started, and keep going. My motto is "Start wherever you are!"

I joined WGM back in December to lose some weight & get in better shape. By January, I decided to try out some of the classes. One HIIT Camp & one Performance class with coach Dan...I was hooked. I signed up for the Athletics program & started going to as many classes as I could. Here we are, 4 months, 40 pounds, & an entire lifestyle change later and I feel like an entirely different person. I have met & worked with a bunch of amazing people over the past 4 months. The entire staff & all the coaches at WGM are awesome. All the coaches are very caring & always willing to show you how to do something & are never to busy to have a conversation about exercising, diet, health in general, or just the latest episode of GOT. Joining the Athletics program is health wise, the best decision I have ever made!!

World Gym's success is a direct reflection of it's owner's, management and trainer's. Being a business owner myself, I appreciate the gym's ability to bring people together in our community, in such a positive way. Most days you'll find me in a performance class, I thoroughly enjoy the camaraderie and team building skills the classes provides. Thanks for 8 great years!

After my 3rd child was born I stared to suffer from Post-Partum depression and weight gain. My self esteem was low, my doctor prescribed me anti-depressants which I refused to take. With the support from my husband I joined the gym and the WGA Program. WGA Coaches and staff have given me confidence and slowly I started coming out of my shell when I realized how much these people were always going to be there for me. I started attending more and more classes and have made some good friends through the program. We support each other and never criticize one another no matter what. As soon as I enter WGA I can feel the positive energy and receiving smiles from friends and coaches. So if you are out there and feeling shy or intimidated please don’t be!! WGA is for all levels and wants to support you and help you succeed.

As Father Time began catching up with me, I found it more difficult to work out on my own. So, I decided to join World Gym Athletics….and there’s been no looking back. The coaches and other athletes are fantastic! So, if you are looking for a program that pushes you to your limits every day, World Gym Athletics is where you need to be……see you at the gym!

Thank you for naming us World Gym’s Athletes of the Month, it is truly an honor and quite unexpected. Through the World Gym Athletics Program we have been able to improve our physical health as well as keeping our attitudes positive while lowering our overall stress on a day to day basis. The best part is we’ve been able to achieve all of this by being a part of a program that provides us with knowledgeable instructors that lead by example and who keep up with new fitness trends. We enjoy the community that they have built with their ability to push us farther than we could have anticipated while teaching the necessary fundamentals in a truthful but fun and encouraging environment. Thank you to ALL the Millsboro World Gym Staff for giving us the opportunity to be a part of the BEST gym in this

David has been a faithful member of Coach Scott's Performance and former bootcamp group training classes for over 8 years - and a WGM member since our beginning! David is a local area buisiness professional who makes it a priority to get up and out in the early morning to get his workout in. We thank you, David, for the example you set for the others through your loyalty & commitment to personal health and fitness. Congrats for being a remarkable WGA ATHLETE!

"World Gym Athletics gives me the motivation and accountability to get moving and workout. The coaching staff and other members are always ready and willing to help and encourage . There isn't a program out there that even comes close to what WGA offers." Congrats, Kyle, on your growth in this program and for your loyalty and dedication. You're a remarkable WGA athlete!

Members of our World Gym Athletics and Group Training programs for nearly 5 years, Charlie and Alex are a true “power couple”—in the gym and in every day life. “Becoming members of World Gym has changed our lives. The Athletics Program (WGA) provides us with an opportunity to work out as a couple yet challenge our individual goals –in addition to meeting great friends and feeling a sense of community.”

Gerry Hopper has been a dedicated member of Coach Scott’s early morning Performance and Group Training classes for over 4 years. “Scott continuously challenges me to reach new levels” he said as he shared feedback on his success: “In my late 60’s, I feel as fit as when I was much younger. What I like most about the program is the personal accountability, the scalability to the skill level of each participant, the camaraderie and friendships within the group, and the feeling of accomplishment at the end of class (even when you hate getting up at 4:30am to attend a 5:30am class)!” Congrats, Gerry, for your loyalty and dedication to being a remarkable WGA ATHLETE!

"The [World Gym Athletics] program has made me feel much more supported and wanting to support others. It's a well-rounded program that's not just focused on one aspect (i.e. heavy weightlifting). As a general gym goer, I enjoy options because I have a specific goal of getting stronger for Olympic Weight Lifting. My goals have been to get leaner, faster, stronger and be overall happier with how I feel. Having the choices of PACE, HIIT and PERFORMANCE have made my goals easier to meet. It's also affordable because a personal trainer weekly is not something doable for me."
