Three Franchises Set to Open in 2013, World Gym Fitness Fest Continues In Its Fourth Year, and More

(LOS ANGELES, Calif. – October 7, 2013) World Gym, the iconic brand for bodybuilding and seriously fun fitness, today announced news regarding franchise growth, presentations, and franchisee programs in Russia.

New Gyms Opening 2013
On October 1, 2013, the 11th World Gym location opened in Russia. World Gym Sinitsa is a brand new 33,000 square-foot facility located in Moscow. This club is the only one in the area that offers Child Care and a swimming pool. Other services and amenities include health and nutrition counseling, personal training, massage, tanning, a nail salon and a café. Classes include martial arts, yoga, cycling, aerobics, dance, aquatic exercises, mixed format, weightlifting and children's fitness.

Currently, ten clubs are operating in four Russian cities: Moscow, Irkutsk, Krasnodar, and Rostov-on-Don. By the end of 2013, two more openings are anticipated in Moscow and its immediate vicinity, World Gym Zvezdny and World Gym Moskovsky.

MIOFF Fitness Convention>
Guy Cammilleri, Managing Director of World Gym International, will be a presenter at the National MIOFF (Moscow International Open Festival of Fitness) Convention on October 7-11. As the largest fitness expo in Eastern Europe, the event includes a trade show featuring the latest equipment and technology, master classes by leading Russian fitness instructors and a business forum featuring presentations by Russian and international fitness experts.

Mr. Cammilleri will participate in the business forum segment during the expo and will discuss the U.S. fitness industry, marketing communications, business strategy and the challenges in building an international network of franchised clubs.

World Gym Fitness Fest
For the fourth year in a row, World Gym Russia is conducting World Gym Fitness Fests in various Russian cities. The goal of the Fitness Fest is to promote fitness (including latest international trends) among the Russian public.

The World Gym Fitness Fest includes:

  • Workshops by leading Russian and international presenters
  • Seminars by leading industry professionals
  • World Gym Fight, the annual boxing tournament among World Gym members

World Gym Annual Conference
Every autumn, the General Managers of all World Gym Russia clubs attend the annual Strategy Session in Moscow. The Strategy Session aims to review the year and discuss issues of strategic importance, whether relevant to currently operating clubs or to the further expansion of the World Gym Network in Russia.

World Gym Semi-Annual Network Training
World Gym Russia conducts semi-annual Network Training for both General Managers and Fitness Directors from all clubs. Program objectives are to improve operational efficiency of the clubs, as well as to enhance standardization across clubs and improve employee motivation and loyalty.

World Gym Russia Awards
In June 2013, World Gym Russia held their first-ever national World Gym Russia Awards ceremony. Ten Russian clubs competed in the following categories:

  • Discovery of the Year (Best new club)
  • Team Spirit (Best group of co-workers)
  • Best Event
  • Best Children's Project (both facilities and events)
  • Best Club

The Best Club award for 2012-13 went to World Gym Irkutsk. The best employee, named by the winning club, was Tatiana Suslova, a finance associate at World Gym Irkutsk.
