Jack never exercised before the age of 63. After having by-pass surgery, his doctor recommended a cardiovascular and strength training exercise program. Jack joined World Gym over 10 years ago and started exercising with a trainer. He became dedicated to working out ever since and decided to get certified as a personal trainer so he can share the benefits of exercise with his clients. Jack continues to challenge himself and at the age of 72, he successfully completed his first sky diving adventure!

As a young child, Heather Stybel was as unathletic as they come. She never participated in sports. As she became an adolescent, she dreaded gym class. She gained weight as a teacher, going out and eating all the wrong foods. At the age of 13, it all began to change. First she tried paddleball at the local park in Brooklyn and loved it!! At the age of 17 she joined a gym called Living Well Lady and the rest is history! After moving to Long Island and joining World Gym, Heather was inspired by other instructors and trainers. She decided to make the jump and become both a personal trainer and a group fitness instructor so that she could spread her passion for fitness to others with her high energy and motivating workouts! Over the years Heather and her husband, Jason and their two boys, Justin and Brandon, have dedicated their lives to living a healthy lifestyle by being active and eating healthy. Meet Our First World Gym Biggest Loser!

Shelia joined World Gym over 10 years ago and started exercising and taking group fitness classes. She loved going to classes and meeting new people who inspired her to do her best. Sheila joined the gym’s first Biggest Loser Program and won! She eventually lost over 100lbs. with the help of instructors, personal trainers, and the support of other fellow members.
Sheila set out to achieve her goals and has never felt healthier and happier. She now loves teaching group fitness and cycle classes. She constantly shares her enthusiasm and passion for fitness with members and her clients.

Matt Avellino is currently a professional soccer player for Sevilla F.C.P.R. in Puerto Rico. During his off season, Matt teaches for our MAX-OUT program and is available for personal training. Matt also is Assistant Varsity Coach for the girls varsity soccer team at Southside High School in Rockville Centre.

After an extremely successful collegiate athletic career Liz wanted to share her passion and knowledge of athletic training with young athletes so that they could reach their fullest potential.
Speed and agility is an integral part of any athlete’s preparation for their season. Developing power, speed, explosiveness and quickness can benefit all athletes at any level. In addition to teaching and personal training, she also coaches JV Lacrosse as well as travel lacrosse for Long Island Liberty Lacrosse Club.
Liz played soccer and lacrosse in High School and continued her lacrosse career at the Division I Institute, Marist College. As a three year starter and two year captain some of her honors include:
2006: Ranked 11th in NCAA Division I Lacrosse for Save Percentage
2007: Ranked 14th in NCAA Division I Lacrosse for Save Percentage

After having three children and gaining a lot of weight, Delia decided to make a change. She joined a gym and has been extremely hooked on fitness ever since. She quickly decided to become a certified personal trainer in order to help others meet their goals.
The personal training world introduced her to other areas of fitness. She loves teaching kickboxing, aqua fitness, seniors, and her most recent passion…TRX. The TRX program includes over 250 highly functional exercises to develop lean and powerful muscle throughout the entire body.
Delia will work you to your limits, but always with a smile!

Amy turned 40 years young in 2008. She is happily married for over 13 years and has two great children. She has been a fitness enthusiast since the age of 16. She is a happy go lucky type of person who always sees the best in people and makes the most out of every given opportunity. She is a certified personal trainer and also has a love for teaching group fitness classes which include spinning, kickboxing, mat Pilates and sculpting. “My philosophy is to do the right amount of exercise without over or under doing it. I am also a firm believer in muscle confusion so that the body never gets bored nor will you.”
Amy designs the best possible workouts for her clients with fun, cutting edge exercises. She believes her fitness career has been a true life calling. Amy strives to give her clients the results they want.

Ann is a 2nd degree Black Belt. She has studied karate for 13 years and has been teaching Karate to children for 6 years. After losing 50 pounds doing karate and kickboxing Ann became extremely interested in fitness. She decided to become a certified personal trainer and group fitness instructor teaching Pilates, heavy bag training, aqua, yoga, and senior fitness classes. Ann has also developed the Wellness Program at World Gym which is an exercise class for members with all special needs ranging from pre/post surgery, cancer survivors or even those new to exercise. She is also currently in the process of developing a fitness program for children with learning disabilities.

He quickly saw the benefits of working with a trainer and decided to pursue a personal training career of his own. Besides being part of our personal training staff, Al teaches group fitness classes and also coaches our Running Club. Joe has been teaching Pilates at World Gym for 3 years. Currently a student in Stony Brook’s Doctorate of Physical Therapy program, he is a certified group exercise instructor, personal trainer, Pilates teacher and yoga instructor with over 10 years experience. He has taught at exclusive locations in Dallas, Fort Worth and Chicago. He also holds a B.F.A. in dance performance from Southern Methodist University and has performed with over a dozen ballet and modern dance companies and toured nationally. He is passionate about helping improve day to day living by bringing physical balance to a pain free body and teaching posture and body mechanics.

Danielle lived the first half of her life not eating well, out of shape and overweight. She joined Word Gym and soon turned into a gym enthusiast, trying all areas of the club including all kinds of group fitness classes. She lost weight and was full of energy.
Danielle eventually hit a fitness plateau, no longer seeing the results that she was striving for. She was no longer overweight, but wanted to see more muscle definition. She was doing so much cardiovascular exercise so why wasn’t she seeing the results? Danielle decided to hire a personal trainer to help achieve her goals.

THE SMARTEST THING SHE EVER DID!

Danielle started seeing her body change and transform right in front of her own eyes. She thrived on the motivation and loved being pushed to her limits! She also learned the correct way to use the weight room so she could train on her own time when necessary. Danielle became pregnant again, and promised herself to return to exercising as soon as she could. Four weeks post pregnancy Danielle was back doing cardio, and within two months she was back strength training.

Throughout her years in the gym, Danielle developed a passion for exercise and fitness which led her to become a certified personal trainer. She loves motivating people to work hard, eat well and stay committed. Danielle is proof of how will power, consistency and commitment all pay off.

Phyllis’s passion for health and fitness started over 30 years ago with traditional dance-ballet, tap and jazz and eventually teaching to children at a local studio. She became a member of World Gym over 14 years ago and quickly became part of the training team.
Phyllis began working as a personal trainer and children’s fitness instructor. Since 2003, Phyllis decided to concentrate on Pilates training. She has been training clients using the Pilates System which has shown tremendous benefits with their core strength. She uses the Pilates training system with all of her clients whether their goals are weight loss, athletic conditioning, stronger cores, or body imbalances. She also uses Pilates as a rehabilitation program for individuals who have exercise limitations and injuries. Phyllis loves to teach people what their bodies are capable of!

John is a personal fitness trainer at World Gym and is certified by the Aerobics and Fitness Association of America (AFAA). He also has AFAA’s TeleFitness® Internet Software Certification. He is certified by the YMCA of the U.S.A in Foundations of Group Exercise, Healthy Lifestyle Principles, Stability Ball Training, and Group Cycling. John offers a specialty boxing oriented personal training session that shapes the body. He applies the principles of anatomy, exercise physiology, nutrition and kinesiology to the design and delivery of a fun and progressive fitness session that will bring you to your true goals.
