Matt began an active lifestyle right out the gate when his parents first had him start playing every sport at the age of 5. He quickly excelled at soccer and began playing in competitive leagues year round in both Spain and later in Hawaii. By the age of 14, Matt was one of the top 15 goal scorers for the season. He then represented USA as an ambassador in friendship games in Australia. By the junior year of high school Matt was bit by the workout bug.

Matt loves living an athletic lifestyle. He is actively involved in weight lifting, hiking, skin diving, snowboarding, kayaking, paddling and much more. He is currently working on getting his dietetics degree with an emphasis in sports nutrition, and is also preparing for his first ever bodybuilding show this year.

Matt is a long term, dedicated World Gym team member and we all couldn't be happier to welcome him to the World Gym Training Team. Matt knows the training floor and equipment better than anyone, is always really helpful, and is extremely knowledgeable about how to work hard and get results!

"What do I want, and how am I going to get there?" - When Chris came to World Gym in 2006 he found himself asking that very question, so he began with the Weight Training he remembered from High School Football. He made some progress, but nothing significant.
It was not until Chris started reaching out to the World Gym Trainers that he learned form, tempo, nutrition, and visualizing goals are essential in making progress. After adopting these lessons, Chris gained strength and accomplished an incredible drop in weight - over 30lbs in three months! And after years of being a World Gym and CrossFit regular, Chris was invited to become a trainer.

Training with Chris is geared to be challenging for ANY fitness level, and will help you achieve your individual goals, work hard and make no excuses. Sessions may include:
-Varied Weight Training (Free Weight, Body Weight, Machine Assisted Training)
-Olympic Lifting
-Nutritional Advice
-Setting fitness goals and learning how to achieve them
-High Fives

Chris is a Personal Trainer who knows what it's like to be out of shape. He believes that anyone can change his or her life for the better, and making physical changes is one of the most rewarding ways to do so.

Kelly has been dancing and teaching salsa for the past 5 years. She has been a competitor and performer in several events that have taken her from coast to coast with many taking place here locally. Kelly has also been a teacher in the surrounding Bay Area for many years.

Kelly's TRX classes are intense workouts that focus on strength, proper form, movement patterns, and high intensity. She varies the routines to keep it fun and challenging.

Kelly holds certifications through The National Academy of Sports Medicine, National Exercise & Trainers Association, TRX, and holds a Bachelor of the Arts in Sociology from Stanislaus State University.

Growing up in Fort Collins Colorado Sarah was involved in anything that would test her bodies limits. From soccer and hiking to dancing, she enjoyed moving. She instructed 6 years of traditional Japanese jujitsu and found that she loved motivating people to love and defend their bodies. Seeing their individual strength grow in both body and mind encouraged her to pursue personal training and move out to San Francisco to work at World Gym.

Sarah focuses on strength and muscular endurance training and believes anyone can have a strong, healthy body.

Charly Valenzuela is a NASM certified personal trainer. Also, he is currently attending college to eventually become a registered dietitian. Growing up he was involved in many sports that required a great amount of physical performance. As he got older from the age of 14 years old, he became involved into bodybuilding, and at a later age he became a Men's Physique competitor.

Charly loves to study the human body and its individuality to help it reach its maximum fitness performance. He believes that anyone can reach their fitness goal as long as they get the right guidance and put in the heart to reach that goal. Charly loves to build aesthetic pleasing physiques for both men and women. He will help you build the physique you always dreamed of and/or help you increase your performance for any particular physical activity that you enjoy to perform outside of our gym facility.

Charly knows what is like to be out of shape and knows just the right things to keep you motivated to eventually go past your current goals.

Katie has been active and an athlete her whole life. She played varsity sports in high school and carried over to college where she played Division II soccer. When she was earning her degree is where she found her love for the fitness industry. Katie has a background in many fields such as weight loss, pre/post natal, rehabilitation, kettle bells, core strength, and obstacle racing just to name a few.

Katie believes that exercise should be something you want to do, not something you have to do! When training with her, it will always be fun! Expect the unexpected with her workouts because she likes to shock the body in different ways that youve never experienced before.

Katie hopes to bring her Southern charm and flair to World Gym and give you a unique fitness experience!

Therapist- turned-trainer John came to San Francisco from the Philippines to broaden his horizons. After taking his masters in Counseling Psychology, he worked with and cared for kids, teens, and the elderly. Even during strenuous work days, he trained religiously, making the gym his sanctuary in the rat race of life. In 2014, he decided to follow his passion for fitness and became a certified personal trainer.

But John hasn't always been the fitness-focused type. At a young age he battled obesity and decided to join a gym after high school. It was a life-changing journey both psychologically and physically: an experience he wants to share with you! John's history made him passionless about motivating people to improve their health and well-being. His training style centers on integrating mindful techniques to individually-tailored training programs. Working with him, you will learn how to develop exceptional focus on each rep in every set making all your workouts count towards achieving and maintaining your fitness goals!

Raised on the North Shore of Oahu, a normal day for Josh would include Surfing, mountain biking, free diving or hiking. Living an active lifestyle since a young age, Josh knew right away the importance of "Living Healthy".

At the age of 17, Josh started weight training. He picked up a job at the local gym and fell in love. The next few years he spent shadowing Master trainers while learning the ropes.

After moving to S.F. in 2007, Josh established himself as a personal trainer. His passion for fitness and living a healthy lifestyle are stronger than ever. He is on fire! Josh specializes in Corrective movement, endurance, strength training and weight loss. Josh prides himself in helping clients succeed and meet their goals.

Loving stories, Herman decided to graduate San Francisco State University with a History major. Still learning, he continues his education in life by learning something different everyday.

Growing up, Herman has always been athletic but with a side of skinny. Looking to grow, he discovered bodybuilding which fired him up to changing his body. He put his new found passion to work by continuously learning and striving to be a physically better. Through the years of hard work, he was able to add on 30lbs to his body. He loves to see others succeed and he will give his undivided attention towards those that are willing to stay focused towards their goals.

Long before I even entertained the idea of becoming a personal trainer I would always feel a sense of pride and joy for any person I'd meet who through hard work and prolonged dedication transformed how they looked and felt physically, which in turn completely transformed his or her entire life in many positive ways. That feeling, coupled with a passion for exercise and fitness...a passion that has led me to experiences with Crossfit, boxing, Muay Thai, as well as a lifetime love affair with various forms of weight training (my current obsession being powerlifting)...as well as finally having the courage and conviction to do what I actually WANT to do with my life...THAT'S why I'm here to help you!
